Andrej Božič is Manager of the Year 2016
The Governing Board of the Managers’ Association has named Andrej Božič, General Manager of Steklarna Hrastnik, the Manager of the Year 2016. He will receive the award at the Managers’ Congress on Thursday, 29 September, in Portorož.
2016’s Best Innovation
In cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and the SPIRIT Slovenia Public Agency, the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce presented awards for 2016’s best innovations. Forty innovations from Slovenia’s 13 regions competed for national gold, silver and bronze awards and diplomas.
Steklarna Hrastnik won two of the best innovation awards for its Puzzle glass bowls, the Gold Audience Award and Silver Jury Award.
Steklarna Hrastnik Wins 2016 Red Dot Award for Puzzle
Competing against over 5000 products, the Puzzle glass bowl created by Steklarna Hrastnik has received the Red Dot Award for Product Design. The award serves as further proof of the innovation and expertise that distinguish the employees of Steklarna Hrastnik, as Puzzle bowls – the world’s first 3D stackable glass product – are the result of in-house design, development, and production.
ANDREJ BOŽIČ IS ZASAVC OF THE 2014
For the second time the editorial board of Zasavski tednik (Zasavje weekly) and the Zasavc Academy prepared a contest for Zasavc of the year. 30 successful men and women from Zasavje, who in 2014 achieved remarkable results in the Zasavje region and around the world, were listed among wider range of contestants. Short-list of contestants included Andrej Božič, Marina Barovič, the director of General Hospital Trbovlje, Mišo Brečko, Slovenian football player, Lojze Čop, the youngest Slovenian chef, and Nanda Guček, mentor of the youth theater Trbovlje.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT 2015
Under the auspices of the Business Academy of Finance, 23 different projects were submitted in four different categories by 21 companies and organizations. According to the panel of expert judges, Steklarna Hrastnik won in the category of Energy Efficiency Project in 2015. Steklarna Hrastnik won due the following project: "Renovation work of furnace B and its surroundings, and renovation of hot and cold part in the business unit Special"
STEKLARNA HRASTNIK RECEIVES SIX AWARDS FOR INNOVATION
The award ceremony for the innovators of Zasavje was held on Thursday, 18 June 2015, in the Workers’ Cultural Centre in Trbovlje. Amidst the tough competition of 20 innovations, Steklarna Hrastnik received a total of six awards – one gold, three silver, and two bronze.
Slovenian National Champion in the category Entrepreneur of the Year 2014/2015
At the end of this May, Steklarna Hrastnik ranked amongst 110 prize-winning enterprises within the framework of the European Business Award – EBA. In the category Entrepreneur of the Year 2014/2015, the company received the title of Slovenian National Champion. This achievement is even more important by virtue of the fact that 24,000 companies entered the competition last year.
Gold Award from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia has granted Steklarna Hrastnik the gold award for its project entitled “The optimisation of the B-furnace for producing special packaging – an innovative solution for the operation of the furnace in accordance with market demands”. Steklarna Hrastnik was the winner amidst serious competition from 173 companies involved, of which as many as 38 made it to the final selection at national level.
Awards and diplomas for innovation in Zasavje
In June 2014 the best innovators from Zasavje were given awards and diplomas for the year 2013. Steklarna Hrastnik Glassworks received 5 awards, one award is shared with RC eNeM, while another one was presented to RC eNeM - a branch of Steklarna Hrastnik Glassworks.
Gold award was given to the innovation New recipes of staining transparent glass with Eco materials found in nature (RC eNeM), silver award was presented for the innovation Capturing waste heat of the flue gases of glass furnace G (SH) and Automating the process of quality control with respect to bottles of special forms at control line 4 (SH and RC eNeM), and bronze awards went to the innovation Implementation of lasers in the manufacturing process, the Use of laser in the personalization of products, Celsyum and Grip-it (SH).
Steklarna Hrastnik has the general manager of the year
The Kapital magazine and 50 managers agreed that Andrej Božič, the General Manager of Steklarna Hrastnik, was the best general manager in Slovenia, Matjaž Rakovec, the President of the Management Board of Zavarovalnica Triglav, was the best financial manager in Slovenia for the second year in a row, while Krka from Novo mesto was the best company.
At the Kapital fair, held at the end of April in Cankarjev dom, Andrej Božič was awarded the title of The Best General Manager of 2012 for a successful rehabilitation of Steklarna Hrastnik. With the help of a sound business model, which puts people and development of new talents first, the company managed to get out of the red, while retaining the number of jobs.
RECOGNITION FOR PLACING AMONG THE FINALLISTS OF THE GOLDEN THREAD 2012
Care for employees and strategic human resource management are, in addition to innovation and quality control, the fundamentals of Steklarna Hrastnik glassworks' success. During the past two years we have invested extensively in the development of human resources. We implemented a system of internal mentorship that allows us to efficiently transfer knowledge between employees, and each new employee now undertakes a carefully guided process of training. We developed a system of horizontal promotion and yearly open discussions, and we further motivate our employees with performance bonuses. We conduct a special program of preventive training that helps employees avoid burnout in the workplace due to highly demanding work. Within its framework, we are organizing already the ninth consecutive annual rest and relaxation sessions. We also strive to harmonize our employees' private and business life, and focus on the development of key personnel. Our placement among the finalists of Golden Thread 2012 attests to the dedicated efforts of the company and the good results they bring. Steklarna Hrastnik glassworks was a finalist of the Golden Thread 2012 best employer award in the category of large companies.
AWARD FOR COMMENDABLE RESTRUCTURING
Steklarna Hrastnik was a finalist at the 2012 Zlata Nit pageant in the Big Companies category, and received a special award for the Commendable Restructuring of the company. We received the award for not forgetting, even at a time of business re-organisation, the most valuable element of the company - the employees.
