Rewarding the Success of the Steklarna Hrastnik Employees with Slovenia’s Top Economy Award
- Published on 07 March 2017
Yesterday, on behalf of all company associates, Andrej Božič, the General Director of Steklarna Hrastnik, accepted the oldest and most prestigious economy award in Slovenia – the CCIS award, also known in expert circles as the Oscar of Slovenian economy.
Said Andrej Božič, General Director of Steklarna Hrastnik, upon receiving the award: "This is a collective success and this award belongs to all Steklarna Hrastnik employees. Working in the processing industry means staying motivated and working extremely hard, suffering plenty of sleepless nights when the company is making major investments, fighting on the market for every cent and, last but not least, sweating around scorching hot glass furnaces." In the speech, he also highlighted the company’s difficult journey out of the red and into the black: "Steklarna Hrastnik has come a long way from a EUR 5 million loss in 2009 to a EUR 7.5 million profit in 2015, EUR 40 million worth of investments and a 40% rise in turnover in the last seven years. While the financial result is important, it is actually a consequence and not the goal. The key result is our many employees, who are now more satisfied, more confident, and better equipped for life, not to mention that their jobs are safer."
Andrej Božič is a proponent of holistic, responsible leadership, which is based on the findings of quantum physics. A method that he also uses himself, the approach is based on positive values, giving meaning to everything we do, striking a balance with nature and the social environment, and ensuring quality of life for all people rather than a chosen few.
